Sprint Electric strengthens new AC drive technology by working with KTPs

Dr Mark Gardiner, director of Sprint Electric, explains the value of the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) undertaken with the University of Nottingham and the University of Sussex. Mark joined Sprint Electric in 2013 and has 30 years of experience in the drives industry.

The KTPs are part grant-funded schemes that helps businesses to innovate using the expertise from the universities. A KTP brings together a business or charity with a research organisation and a qualified graduate, known as a KTP Associate, with the capability to lead a strategic, technical or business project.

Sprint expands facilities at Nottingham University following recent investment

Sprint Electric has expanded its footprint at the University of Nottingham after raising significant investment towards the development of Generis, the groundbreaking AC regeneration drive.

Sprint Electric has partnered with the University of Nottingham since 2018 on two separate Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs). The collaboration has researched the underlying technologies and developed Generis with the aim of delivering a cost effective and highly reliable AC motor control with energy regeneration and low input current harmonics.

Military discipline in development of Sprint supply chain

Harry Fenn has joined Arundel-based Sprint Electric as supply chain manager, a key appointment for the company as they implement a global growth strategy following a wave of investment. Harry joins with an impressive track record in supply chain management.  A qualified electrical engineer, Harry started out in project engineering for a satellite antennae manufacturer.

Sprint Electric were selected as one of 28 successful applicants from 89 applications. The funding is from fifth round of the Innovate UK Investor Partnerships programme dedicated to supporting SMEs.

Sprint Electric win Innovate UK funding competition for groundbreaking industrial control technology

Sprint Electric, a world leading manufacturer of drives for industrial motor control, has won Innovate UK funding for its groundbreaking Generis AC Regeneration drive. This patented AC drive technology provides precise control of AC electric motors combined with efficient energy regeneration, a need not adequately addressed by traditional AC variable frequency drives.
