Sprint Electric is exhibiting at Drives and Controls 2025, premiering the ultra-low harmonic and fully regenerative AC drive, Generis, to the UK market for its first live appearance. Attendees can visit Sprint Electric on stand 5/M90 in Hall 5 to meet Alan Baird, global head of sales for AC Drives, Gary Keen, director, and business development manager, Neill Drennan, to discuss the future of industrial motor control.
“It will be fantastic to meet up with our customers and make new connections at Drives and Controls and we look forward to premiering Generis to the UK market,” said Alan Baird. “Generis sets a new benchmark in performance and application flexibility in the AC drive market.
“Generis delivers high-performance AC electric motor control with the ability to intermittently or continuously return energy generated by the electric motor back to the supply. Crucially, this avoids the waste of energy through dissipation in brake resistors. Generis uses Sprint Electric’s patented switching technology to only produce ultra-low harmonics, unity power factor and ensures a prolonged product lifespan as it has no DC bus and therefore no electrolytic capacitors.
“The high-performance motor control and energy regeneration that Generis offers is ideal for applications such as cranes, elevators, process control, web handling and converting, amongst many others,” said Alan.

Gary Keen has worked for Sprint Electric for 28 years and is looking forward to the buzz of Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week which includes the Drives show:
“We are excited to be exhibiting at Drives and Controls 2025 to unveil Generis for the first time on home soil. The drive is approximately half the volume of other regenerative AC drives on the market and is designed to simplify control without compromising on performance.
“Our digital DC drives continue to be popular for customers looking to improve performance and productivity. DC drive and motor systems have been a mainstay in heavy industry and process control. When motors are maintained, it is often significantly less expensive to upgrade to modern digital DC drives such as the PL/X from Sprint Electric which is a great option, particularly when budgets are tight,” said Gary.
Neill Drennan is keen to share his expertise with attendees about the software innovations behind the products at Sprint Electric:
“Our AC and DC drives include integrated function block programming, making them easy to configure and can deliver distributed process control over Ethernet without the use of a PLC. In addition, condition-based monitoring capabilities within our drives allows users to detect and address potential issues before problems arise, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
“We are looking forward to connecting with customers and connections at Drives and Controls, sharing our insights about the future of motor control,” said Neill.
The Sprint Electric team invites all attendees of Drives and Controls 2025 to visit them and discover how its range of motor control solutions are redefining the standards for process control and power conversion in multiple industries and applications.
