Our people in the spotlight – Jordan Mann

Jordan Mann is the latest employee to be featured in our series of articles recognising the contribution of our people.

Jordan joined Sprint Electric as a manufacturing engineer in July 2024. Since then, he has embraced the opportunity to work on the Generis AC regeneration drive, contributing to improvements in its assembly process and manufacturability, with the long-term objectives of increased efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

With a career in hands-on engineering and a passion for continuous improvement, Jordan possesses a wide range of manufacturing experience and focuses on bringing innovative process improvements to his role at Sprint Electric.

“I’m constantly evaluating how we use our systems to make manufacturing as straightforward as possible. By simplifying assemblies and ensuring accurate base data, we can identify opportunities to improve our manufacturing process. I’ve learned a great deal since coming onboard at Sprint Electric, and the team have welcomed me into the business brilliantly. It’s been rewarding to play a role in the development of Generis, I’m excited about the journey ahead and the release of the next generation of AC drive,” said Jordan

“I joined Sprint Electric to help steer the manufacturing processes of the Generis product. I am confident in product assembly and am passionate about identifying opportunities for mechanical and process improvements,” said Jordan. “I am naturally process-driven, so I focus on streamlining operations wherever possible.

“One of my primary focuses is on reducing variation in components across products. Using the same components helps to simplify the build process, reduce costs, and eliminate unnecessary complexity in production,” said Jordan.

Mark Gardiner, director at Sprint, described the impact of Jordan since he joined: “Jordan’s role involves managing engineering changes across various departments, from R&D to quality, production, and supply chain, to ensure smooth coordination with minimal disruption.

“Jordan has been very effective in optimising the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system. The visibility of component availability and product tracking is essential for a global business, and he has brought greater efficiency and traceability across the production lifecycle.” said Mark.

Jordan began his career at the age of 18, joining a renowned manufacturer of high voltage power supplies as an apprentice while studying part-time for a mechanical engineering degree. Over the course of a decade with the company, he progressed from the shop floor to the engineering team, becoming a manufacturing engineer. His work there included root cause analysis of production issues, development of assembly instructions, and close collaboration with design teams to enhance manufacturing processes.

Jordan then joined a design and manufacturing business, where he continued to develop his expertise, managing process improvements, leading pFMEA reviews, and overseeing engineering change notices (ECNs) and BOM updates.
