Sprint Electric is exhibiting at SPS 2025, with the certified production units of its ultra-low harmonic and fully regenerative AC drive, Generis, to the global market.
Attendees can visit Sprint Electric on stand 331 in Hall 3 to meet Alan Baird, global head of sales for AC Drives, Gary Keen, director, business development manager, Neill Drennan, technical sales manager, Ali Reza and technical director, Dr Mark Gardiner to discuss the future of industrial motor control.
Alan Baird is thrilled to be launching Generis at SPS during 25-27th of November:
“We are looking forward to meeting up with our customers and make new connections at SPS. It is a perfect opportunity to launch Generis to the world. Generis sets a new standard in performance and flexibility in low harmonic and regenerative AC drive applications.
“Generis uses Sprint Electric’s patented switching technology to only produce ultra-low harmonics, near unity power factor and ensures a prolonged product lifespan as it has no DC bus and therefore no electrolytic capacitors. These features make Generis ideal for applications such as elevators, cranes, process control, web handling and converting, amongst many others.
“Generis delivers high-performance AC electric motor control with the ability to intermittently or continuously return energy generated by the electric motor back to the supply. Crucially, this avoids the waste of energy through dissipation in brake resistors.
“The four-quadrant control removes the need for active front end drives or braking resistors, simplifying and reducing installation costs in AC motor applications,” said Alan.

Gary Keen is looking forward to returning to SPS, after the unveiling of Generis in 2023:
“We are really excited to be exhibiting at SPS 2025 to unveil the Generis production units for the first time. The drive is approximately half the volume of other regenerative AC drives on the market and is designed to simplify control without compromising performance.
“For the past five years we have partnered with Nottingham University designing the new Generis variable speed drive to control AC motors. We have manufactured variable speed controllers since 1987, traditionally specialising in the control of DC motors.
“Our digital DC drives including the PL/X will also be on display at SPS 2025 and continue to be popular for customers looking to improve performance and productivity. DC drive and motor systems have always been a mainstay in heavy industry and process control,” said Gary.
Neill Drennan comments: “SPS is a brilliant opportunity to discuss Generis and share our insights about the future of motor control. We have had many technical discussions on Generis with huge interest in the ultra-low harmonic and energy regeneration capabilities plus advanced programming capabilities of the drive.
“Our AC and DC drives include integrated function block programming, making them easy to configure and can deliver distributed process control over Ethernet without the use of a PLC. In addition, condition-based monitoring capabilities within our drives allows users to detect and address potential issues before problems arise, reducing downtime and maintenance costs,” said Neill.
The Sprint Electric team invites all attendees of SPS 2025 to visit the stand and discover how its range of motor control solutions are redefining the standards for process control and power conversion.
